Ceremony Customs in Ukraine

Unlike the west, numerous ceremony cultures in Ukraine have never changed for millennia. They connect fresh individuals with their predecessors. They are an integral part of a marriage service. Some of these customs are effectively- known, for as cutting a marriage bread and smashing glasses. Others are more distinct and are the satisfaction of every Ukrainian. One of them is rushnyk, the embellished fabric that carries communications from parents to children. Each location has its own trends and symbols with invisible meaning.

Before the official wedding ceremony, the bridegroom visits the princess’s slavic brides family along with her pals and relatives. They ask the man issues about his future partner, acclaim her and may even inquire riddles. If the man manages to impress them with his answers, he pays a compensation, which is usually a drink of horilka or different adult drink. It’s a fun way for the pair to demonstrate that they will be a nice fit and have a longer union.

At the same time, the couple’s friends coordinate a bachelor party for her. Typically, it was held two or three days before the ceremony and consisted of weaving violet, making tradition branches and singing sad folk songs. Now, the hen bash is more likely to involve visiting evening venues and another leisure.

Before the wedding service, the man and his relatives explore the princess’s home with gifts. She and her families give a donation to the couple’s relatives, including embroidered rushnyk. After that, the best male gives a product to each individual in the groom’s relatives, calling out their spellings. The few even receives korovai, the cornerstone of every Ukrainian marriage.
